History of Slot Machines

The forerunners of modern slot machines were developed by Stemen and Pitt in Brooklyn, New York in 1891. This is a 5-reel gambling machine that has a total of 50 picture cards and is based on poker. This poker machine turned out to be extremely popular and soon many bars in the city got one or more mechanical poker machines. Players placed a coin and pulled the handle that propelled the drums with the cards while the player was hoping for a good stack of cards in a poker machine. There was no direct payout mechanism if we did not count free beer, cigars or other beverages. Therefore, awards are entirely dependent on what is available at the local venue. In order to be lucky on the side of the restaurant, two cards were removed from the deck: ten cartoons and a jack Hertz. Poker machine drums are also tuned to further reduce the probability of winning.

At first, the moral advocates, and then the competent authorities, oppose the use of such gambling machines. In particular, in the twenties of the 20th century, slot machines were popular throughout America, especially in tourist regions, and continued to be popular during the great financial collapse of the 1930s. However, the belief that organized crime controls the distribution of gaming machines leads to legal restrictions on their sales and transport as well as restrictions on their use. Outside of Nevada, which has long had legalized gambling, the ban was full until 1951.

Because of the huge revenue from slot machines, other countries allow gambling. So they are widely used around the world, especially in casinos. US producers are market leaders. In the late seventies, gaming machines became electronic video machines operated by pushing a button on the visual display, especially for poker or blackjack.

The jarring name The One-Hand Bandit or The One-Handed Jack Slot Machine gets because of a pull-out handle as well as the opportunity for the operator to adjust the amount of payouts and reduce time in big games and half in bad weather. At the end of the 20th century, the record 5-reel slot jackpot was $ 1 million.
